50th Annual Meeting Highlights
Thanks to the 150+ members/owners who attended the credit union’s 50th annual meeting. Board Chairman Charles Ray welcomed everyone to the meeting and remarked on a number of
milestones in the credit union’s first fifty years of growth. A plaque was unveiled with the signatures of the 8 subscribers who signed the Certificate of Organization. The plaque will hang in the credit union’s lobby.
President Jerry Johnson highlighted a successful 2007. During the year, the credit union welcomed 7 new employee groups into its field of membership: Corbett Electrical Construction, Hall’s Fitness Center, Sonny’s Real Pit Barbeque, Thomas Automotive Service, Thomas Collision, Inc., Treatment Center of Valdosta, and Valdosta Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce.
During 2007, the credit union welcomed 432 new members bringing the total membership to 2959. The credit union experienced positive growth during 2007 with assets increasing 8.6%, Shares increasing 9%, and Loans increasing 9.6%.
Congratulations to the following credit union members that were elected to a three year term on the Board of Directors: Mr. Rhonell White, Mr. Richard Green, and Mr. William Folsom. As a member-owned financial institution, all of our volunteers are vital to the continued success of Georgia Power Valdosta Federal Credit Union. Two retiring board members with 11 years of service each were recognized and presented a plaque for their dedicated service; Mrs. Jeanette Clanton and Mr. Russell Tittle. A retiring Supervisory Committee member with over 15 years of service to the committee was also recognized and presented a plaque; Mr. Jerry Dickey. It is this spirit ofvolunteerism thathas made credit unions the unique financial institutions they have become today.
Congratulations to the lucky members who won cash door prizes totaling $1,000. The Grand Prize winners were Robert Daniels - GPS System, and Larry Sirmans - WII Game System.
